I grew up with a fondness for storytelling. They mostly came from my family who lived in Spain, Chile, Germany, and Mexico. Despite their hardships, my family always felt like it was right that I knew most of their love. These feelings focus on traditions, religions, music, art, colors, fashion, and care for one another. As the by-product of my family’s legacy, I hope to carry out those memories through what I create with my hands.
When I was in preschool, one of my favorite activities to do as a kid was draw around the floor with chalk, set up chairs circling them, and have people sit while I would try to tell a story. These feelings would manifest again while at Maranatha High School and further down in the ArtCenter College of Design
I use a variety of mediums (printmaking, acrylic & oil paint, paper cutting, ink) to get my hands working through the story I'm forming.
As of more recently, I like to take these methods and bring them over to the adobe cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign) to push for more color, type, and textures. All in all, to create a much more cohesive story for all to see in a variety of spaces.
Sound is one of the best expressions of storytelling an artist can produce. Through my family, I was able to be introduced to a lot of sounds of their time. Most of which still resonate with me. As an artist, I like to be influenced by the visual imagery that comes from music, both in my memory and my dreams. I love exploring all types of genres and illustrating what I believe is the expression of an artist’s soul.
Aside from my work with art, I love to get myself active in our world.
My main activities are weight training and boxing, as they help challenge myself and what I'm capable of. Reading and analyzing movies are great ways for me to keep my mind healthy and active in our culture. I also just love gardening as it helps keep my mind at peace from tackling many ideas.
